    StarBucks in Phnom Penh Real?

    Starbucks logo
    Image via Wikipedia

The other day, I can’t remember well though, however I got a coffee there with my friends but not a strong one anyway as I am not a coffee lover. My question is whether starbucks is real or not? Does anyone out there can tell?

I saw the sign with their logo on the ground floor of the gym club building along Sihanouk Blvd, opposite of Mobitel building. They have a nice place in there, It is just I don’t like the way people smoking there in the coffee place. How bad the smell of the smoke!!! And it’s very dangerous too as I am a secondhand smoker who don’t smoke but breathing the smoke it. Should put a sign “No Smoking” in that coffee place. Anyway…

If you went or tried it already or plan to go there in the future don’t forget to come back and tell me whether this starbucks is real flavor. I’m not a coffer drinker so I have no ideas but just wondering to check it out.

Since, I don’t know any other starbucks existed, I assume that this is the only place in town where people can enjoy coffee and other drinks from starbucks.

Bread Sellers Use Loudspeaker to Promote Selling

In the morning and evening, I hear almost everyday a few bread sellers at this area promoting their bread using the small loud speaker hanging at their bicycle. I guess, It started for 1 or 2 years till now since after the known “Pong Mon Ang Psom Kreung Pises Man Ros Cheat Chhnguy Chhnganh” influenced the city a few years ago.

I still hear this randomly sometime till today. This influence has spread to the bread sellers who go from place to place in particular area to sell their bread better than Calling Out from Their Own Voice.

Sometime, I hear the voice “Num Pang Kdao Kdao Moy Prab Roy Moy Pram Roy” but now it is more expensive. And the weird stuff is that they made different voices to promote their bread “Num Pang” from time to time. What did you hear in your area?

Kentucky Fried Chicken – KFC in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

KFC is the first western fast food chain in Cambodia. Cold Stones (ice cream chain) is also in Cambodia. I cant think of any other western chains in Cambodia at the moment. That KFC was right in the middle of Phnom Penh on Monivong Blvd just west on the Central Market (Psa Thmey). There are other food chains that serve western food (like burgers, chicken, etc.) but they dont always taste the same. If you are waiting for Camko City to finish, you may be waiting for a long time.

Its a matter of economics. The more chains that open in Cambodia, the more money flows. When international chains invest in Cambodia, many more usually follow when they see one succeeding, and at this point, its a very good thing. As far as health goes, thats completely the responsibility of the individual. I must say that the chicken at the KFC in Cambodia tastes a lot better than the chicken at the KFCs here in the states. I believe they are “home grown” in the Kompong Cham province.

    Cambodia Phnom Penh KFC

I was there this afternoon for 2 spicey chicken breast. They will not let you buy just one piece like Bangkok or Bali but otherwise you would never know that you were in Cambodia till you get back outside.

This is good for Cambodia economy. Please do not eat too much KFC fried chickens. It’s not healthy for you. Khmer food is healthier.

    Chicken Wings – Its Dangerous

Avoid eating chicken wings frequently – ladies, especially; a true story…!

A friend of mine recently had a growth in her womb and she underwent an operation to remove the.
The cyst removed was filled with a dark colored blood. She thought that she would be recovered after the surgery but! she was terribly wrong.

A relapse occurred just a few months later. Distressed , she rushed down to her gynecologist for a consultation.

During her consultation, her doctor asked her a question that puzzled her.
He ask if she was a frequent consumer of chicken wings and she replied yes wondering as to how, he knew of her eating habits.

You see, the truth is in this modern day and age; chickens are injected with steroids to accelerate their growth so that the needs of this society can be met. This need is none other than the need for food.

Chickens that are injected with steroids are usually given the shot at the neck or the wings.
Therefore, it is in these places that the highest concentration of steroids exists.
These steroids have terrifying effects on the body as it accelerates growth..
It has an even more dangerous effect in the presence of female hormones, this leads to women being more prone to the growth of a cyst in the womb. Therefore, I advise the people out there to watch their diets and to lower their frequency of consuming chicken wings!

People, who read this article, please forward it to your friends and loved ones. I am sure no one wants to see him or her suffer!

Yes, you are right,Piseth. We shouldn’t think too much about that but people want to live in this world for 100 years they really pay much attention on their eating or daily life activities…

I am sure you didn’t mean to unnecessarily worry your friends or whoever reads your blog, but it takes 5 minutes to do a quick google search to check your facts before publishing a story. It will save you and your friends a lot of time and unnecessary stress. Besides, it will save your reputation :)

Pepper from Kampot Province is well on the way to becoming the first Cambodian product to get an origin-specific label, which attests to its quality and uniqueness. A government study has found that among Cambodian products, it comes the closest to fulfilling the criteria required for a Geographical Indications (GI) designation. “Kampot pepper meets almost all the requirements needed to become a GI.”

Farmers in Kampot have several generations of experience in pepper farming. Organized today in farmers’ associations, they produce the highest quality peppercorns using a combination of traditional and more modern methods.

Recommended a Few Fast Food Restaurants/Companies in Phnom Penh

In recent years, there are many fast food companies and restaurants raising up in Cambodia, especially in Phnom Penh city. Fast food is getting well known among people who live in the city or those who travel often to the city.

    Fast Food Definition by allwords

    1. A type of meal that is often pre-prepared and served quickly.
    2. A type of food that is quickly made, but of low nutritional value; junk food.
    3. used to describe an establishment serving this kind of food

Usually, fast food is expensive. To enjoy the fast food it will save time, but it will cost you lots of money. You cannot effort enjoying fast food everyday “Life will be TOO luxury”

In Phnom Penh, you can find the fast food companies that people like to enjoy the most such as:

    • Lucky Bugger – I guess it started many years ago, but can’t remember exactly when. Recommend the chicken there is good. Some of my friends say they Love it soooo much. Lolz
    • The Pizza Company – recently has a few branches in Phnom Penh city and usually don’t have seat available. People like to come for Pizza with friends and family. The first main branch is located at Sorya Shopping Center and is still there to serve their customers.
    • Lucky Seven – Most young people including student like to come here to enjoy their meals like for lunch and dinner. Second place recommended for chicken.
    • KFC – A taste of the food is a bit sweet to me. Don’t go there often. I guess, since they have the branch in Cambodia I went there 3 times only. Lots of people love it though…

From my point of view the 4 places is the popular ones that people love to enjoy their time with fast food. I recommend chicken at Lucky Bugger… And which one is your favorite one?

P.S. Recently, I just heard they put the ads somewhere on Sihanouk Blvrd saying that the Starbucks Company is coming soon next month in Phnom Penh.

So next time I’ll be there it would not be difficult to find western fast food that I like.

    • Piseth 8:05 am on March 27, 2009 Permalink

Oh well, that sounds good you find it useful. Maybe you need some more guide on the roadmap like where it is located etc.

    • Tumnei 12:23 am on March 29, 2009 Permalink

As the definition says, fast food is just a JUNK food. It is not good to eat them too much. Here these foods are expensive as you said, but originally they are cheap eating for pp with tight budget. btw, the real Starbucks is not coming. The one at the Place, is not licensed.
