Ngo Education Partnership (Nep) Seeks Executive Director

NGO Education Partnership (NEP) is committed to sustaining dialogue between government and civil society on education issues in Cambodia, undertaking and disseminating research on key issues, and helping its 75 member education NGOs increase their effectiveness.

NEP seeks an Executive Director with proven experience in leading organizations and managing staff teams within the NGO sector. The successful candidate will be a bright and energetic individual with integrity and initiative who will work closely and collaboratively with a committed Board and staff.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors and managing a full-time staff of four, this individual will be expected to:

  • Provide direction, leadership and management to NEP and oversee all of its activities;
  • Be fully involved in major education reforms, ensuring clear two-way communication between NEP members, government and development partners;
  • Oversee the work of NEP staff, providing feedback and support to ensure a positive work environment;
  • Ensure that high standards of good governance and financial management are practiced;
  • Increase NEP?s organizational capacity to research, advocate and support its members; and
  • Manage development partner relationships and identify and seek new sources of funding.

Qualifications

  • At least three years? management experience in an NGO environment;
  • Post-graduate degree in management or development;
  • A strategic thinker who can implement effectively;
  • Understanding of government structure, policy and effective approaches to advocacy;
  • Strong communications skills;
  • Experience working with development partners and preparing funding proposals and reports; and
  • Experience in preparing budgets and overseeing the preparation of financial reports.

The successful candidate will be a Cambodian national who communicates effectively in English. Knowledge of education issues at the policy level, and exposure to Cambodia?s education sector will be definite assets.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader and manager who is committed to achieving education for all in Cambodia and making change happen organizationally. The starting salary is US$850 a month plus benefits.

Conflict might be inevitable, but too often it paralyzes, frustrates, or confuses us. If you are looking for new ways to understand and new tools to engage conflict, we invite you to join us as we explore Mediation Across Cultures.

Peace Bridges is inviting 16 English speakers to help cultivate skills in conflict counseling, mediation facilitation. Instruction will be through four modules (8 am ? 3 pm, Monday to Friday) held once a month (August 25-29, September 22-26, October 20-24, and November 17-21). Cost is $500 to $1500 depending on financial circumstances.

Job Titles:
English Teacher/Child Advocate and English Teacher/Health Coordinator.   1 or 2 positions, from 10 to 35 hours per week.  Schedule will be mornings and/or afternoons.  Female preferred for at least one of the positions.
Salary:
Based on skills and experience; around $1.50 per hour.
Organization:
Aziza Schoolhouse , based in Tonle Bassac, is an NGO to help the residents of Building Block, mostly through free English classes, as well as health and education services, activities and computer classes (just starting).  Employees and volunteers are encouraged to bring their ideas and skills to contribute to help young people improve their lives.
At this time we are creating a new schedule at a new location and are flexible to scheduling needs, salary, and level of experience.  We are a grass-roots organization and depend on good people to deliver our services, as well as create new ways of fulfilling the needs of the community. 
The following are the requirements of the position(s):
Teaching experience (desired)
1.      Good English skills, and enjoy teaching.
M   Must like children.
2.      Desire to help low income people.
3.      Strong preference for one female and one male since we address gender and want to be a resource for young women and men.
5.       Desire to learn on the job and assist with new programs (health and hygiene, leadership, job training and placement).
6.      Knowledge of health and hygiene topics desirable. 
7.      Good attitude.
 
The selected applicant will work with the American director and assist with translation and management duties, oversee student volunteers, lead field trips, and find ways to have fun while working.  Will assist with children individually, and follow up with their public school, health and emotional needs.

Australian Leadership Awards Scholarship for Masters or Doctorate

The Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) Scholarships are a component of the Australian Leadership Awards, a regional program under the Australian Scholarships initiative. Australian Leadership Awards aim to develop leadership, build partnerships and linkages within the Asia-Pacific.

They are intended for those who are already leaders or have the potential to assume leadership roles that can influence social and economic policy reform and development outcomes, both in their own countries and in the Asia-Pacific region. The ALA program comprises of Scholarships and Fellowships.

ALA Scholarships are academically elite awards offered to high achievers from the Asia-Pacific region each year to undertake postgraduate study (Masters or Doctorate) and a Leadership Development Program in Australia.

Selection for ALA Scholarships is highly competitive, based on leadership qualities and on academic excellence.

ALA Scholarships are an investment in the future of the Asia-Pacific region. In this regard, ALA scholars are required to return to their home country or the region for two years after they have completed their studies.

In future years, ALA scholars will belong to a unique group - the Australian Scholarships Alumni Network (ASAN) - that will maintain strong and enduring links to Australia. Managed by AusAID as part of Australia’s overseas aid program, ALA Scholarships are open only to citizens of countries in the Asia-Pacific region with which Australia has a significant aid program.

Objectives of ALA Scholarships
ALA Scholarships aim to:

  • develop a cadre of leaders advancing regional reform, development and governance
  • increase exchange of knowledge and information within the region
  • build common purpose and understanding between Australia and the region
  • build capacity to address priority regional issues
  • build effective networks between Australia and the region
  • demonstrate the benefits of Australian education through the provision of high quality education.

Fields of study
Awards are open to all fields of study, however, study programs that relate to the priority themes of international trade, pandemics, security and climate change (including clean energy) are encouraged. Scholarships are not available for military training, or training in areas related to nuclear technology and flying aircraft.

Levels of study
An ALA Scholarship enables candidates to undertake studies leading to a Masters or Doctorate degree in Australia. It does not include Graduate Diplomas, with the exception of those Masters courses that require the completion of a Graduate Diploma as part of the Masters degree.

Who should apply
Outstanding applicants with:

  • a very high level of academic achievement at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • a high level of English language proficiency
  • demonstrated leadership potential and good prospects to influence social and economic
  • policy reform and development outcomes in their home country and in the Asia-Pacific region
  • a commitment to participate ASAN on their return home.

Scholarship benefits
An ALA Scholarship has a total value of up to A$110,000 for Masters degrees and A$220,000 for Doctoral programs, not including provisions for the leadership development program.. Benefits include:

  • visa support
  • establishment allowance
  • full tuition fees
  • contribution to living expenses
  • Introductory Academic program (IAP)
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award (for award holder only).

Eligibility
To be eligible for an Australian Leadership Award (ALA) Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the eligibility requirements outlined below.

Applicants must be a citizen of one of the participating countries listed below.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kiribati, Laos, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mongolia, Nauru, Nepal, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, Viet Nam, Wallis & Futuna

Project Future : Project Assistant Wanted

Project Assistant wanted

The Project Future is a small project which provides vocational training for unschooled youth aged 16 – 20. Project Future is a CCFC Project (Christian Care for Cambodia) supported by the Danish Lutheran Mission. 

Main responsibilities will be:           

·        Responsible for administration of Project Future which includes: filing documents, maintaining computer records, maintaining office supplies assist with report writing and correspondence and translate documents.

·        Conduct basic financial operations and accounting duties including petty cash etc

·        Assist in establishing and maintaining income generation activities.

·        Assist (support) other staff  as required

·        Teach student in subjects concerning customer service

Qualifications or Skills required

·        Cambodian only (preferably age 25 and above)

·        Relevant Bachelor Degree Work experience, University degree preferred

·        Fluent in spoken and written Khmer and English

·        Good accounting skills

·        Good example to students – showing a good attitude, morals and work ethics and to comply with Project Future values

·        Good interpersonal communication skills

·        Ability to lead and teach others
